Can I hoover up my hamster?

ok so my hamster escaped nearly 2 weeks ago and is living under the sofa, we have him blocked in so he can't get out the lounge. Ive tried EVERYTHING but I can't catch him and its driving me out of my mind, and this evening I discovered that if I take the hoover bag out of my hoover then his little portable cage fits in the gap real snug so my question is: if I set the hoover on low vacuum can I safely suck him up, he is a russian dwarf, so he'll fit up the tube fine. should I try??
