BMW e36 wheels aftermarket?

Hey guys thanks for taking the time to look into my question. i have a 1998 BMW 323i e36. I'm in the market for performance looking rims. My question is how do i go by giving my car that nice tailored snug look? do i purchase a certain wheel size and width and lower the car? if you can, can you give me an answer in detail wheel specs, lowering specs, etc... thanks again.
